 About Us

The Quintet Group unites five communities of Cranborne with Boveridge, Edmonsham, Wimborne St Giles and Woodlands as a single local church, at the same time having respect to particular Christian traditions within the individual parishes. What this means in practice is that a varied range of worship is offered, including old and new styles of liturgy, the formal and less-formal, the simple and the ceremonial

In 1981, when the parishes were first brought together, the Bishop of Salisbury wrote:

If you are a parent you will know what it is like if five different people are playing five different pieces of music at the same time in different parts of the house... all within earshot!

But how proud you are as a parent when those five different people come together, get to know each other’s gifts, likes, dislikes, hopes and fears, and then as a quintet make music together with a sound that rejoices every listener

That, as it seems to me, is how God the Father of our Christian Family must feel when five villages combine their different skills, share their varying hopes, shoulder together their burdens, and determine that together they will show all who live in that area that Christians can unite in a time of discord, break down barriers of local and parochial making, and present a united witness to the world around

O God our heavenly father, make the doors of our churches wide enough to receive all who need human love, fellowship and a Father’s care, and narrow enough to shut out all envy, pride and uncharitableness. Here may all your children renew their strength in you, and go on their way rejoicing; here may the perplexed and troubled find comfort, and the penitent find loving forgiveness; through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen
